the political relationship between Riau and Pahang and the ensuing cultural exchanges that took place led to, among other things, the creation of Baju Riau-Pahang. The Baju Riau-Pahang is also known as Baju Belah or Baju Kebaya Turki. The underlying concept of this new creation is unique and special in that the gusset on both sides is different in cut. The high-collared Baju Riau-Pahang is especially attractive when worn with 7 or 9 buttons. Apart from Bajau Riau-Pahang, the Baju Pendek Teluk Kuantan and Baju Kebaya Pendek are a favourite with the ladies.
On the other hand, the men’s favourite fashion selection are the Baju Melayu Teluk Belanga and Baju Melayu Cekak Musang. There are however some men enjoy wearing a short jacket, the Baju Cina or Baju Pesak Sebelah. In this traditional costume collection, the fabric most commonly used is striped and silk woven.
